Institute for Disaster Management and Reconstruction (IDMR) at Sichuan University is glad to announce a forthcoming Special Issue in the esteemed Journal Progress in Disaster Science, titled “Post-Disaster Recovery and Resilience in China Following Mega Disasters.”

This Special Issue seeks to critically examine China’s extensive and evolving experience in responding to and recovering from large-scale disasters, such as the 2008 Wenchuan Earthquake and the 2010 Zhouqu Debris Flow. Guest-edited by Prof. Di Baofeng, Dean of IDMR, along with a distinguished panel of scholars and researchers, this issue aims to synthesize evidence-based research on disaster recovery, reconstruction, rehabilitation, and resilience-building interventions.

We invite original research papers that explore:

· Long-term impacts and effectiveness of post-disaster programs

· Governance models, technological applications, and community engagement

· Socio-economic outcomes and resilience strategies

· Lessons learned and transferable best practices for high-risk regions globally

This is a unique opportunity for you to contribute to a high-impact publication that bridges scientific research with practical disaster risk reduction and policy development. The Special Issue welcomes submissions from faculty, researchers, graduate students, and practitioners within and beyond IDMR.
