The "Environment-Archaeology-Disaster" Academic Exchange was successfully held on November 23rd-24th, 2024 , co-organized by the Institute for Disaster Management and Reconstruction (IDMR) and the Sichuan University Archaeological Science Center (ASC). Over 30 experts and scholars participated in the exchange, including Sichuan University's College of Architecture and Environment, School of History and Culture (Tourism), College of Water Resource & Hydropower, Institute for Disaster Management and Reconstruction (IDMR), as well as the Chengdu Cultural Relics and Archaeology Research Institute (CDCRARI), the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), and the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (UNIMRE), Italy.

Yong CHEN, Secretary of the Party Committee of the IDMR, attended the event and delivered a welcome speech. This academic exchange focused on the linkages between geoarchaeology, human settlements, and natural disasters. It emphasized the use of interdisciplinary theories and methods to understand the evolution of human-environment relationships under a disaster perspective in multiple dimensions, which aimed to enhance the disciplinary development of Earth Sciences and Disaster Sciences at Sichuan University.

During the thematic session on the morning of the 23rd, Miao Tang from the Baodun Site Workstation of CDCRARI, Professor Hongliang Lü from the University's College of History and Culture, and Professor Baofeng Di from IDMR delivered insightful academic presentations on topics including human-environment relationships during the Baodun Culture period in the Chengdu Plain, the Bronze Age in Southwest China, and post-earthquake ecosystem and community resilience reconstruction. Discussions on the afternoon of the 23rd and the morning of the 24th primarily focused on topics such as historical disasters in human settlements and contemporary environmental risk management. Experts, scholars, and young faculty members in relevant fields shared their latest research findings.
