Peng Xinyan Associate Professor

Xinyan Peng is an Associate Professor and Master's Supervisor at Sichuan University. She received a double Bachelor's degree in Engineering and Economics from Wuhan University in 2013, a Master's degree from Southwest Jiaotong University in 2016, and a Ph.D. from Kyushu University, Japan, in 2020. She served as a specially-appointed researcher at Sichuan University from 2020 to 2023 and has been an Associate Professor since 2023. She was selected for the Sichuan Province Tianfu Ember Program for outstanding young sci-tech talents. Her research focuses on the development of numerical simulation methods and the study of earthquake-induced slope disasters. She has led five research projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Sichuan Provincial Natural Science Foundation, and has published more than 50 papers, including 28 as first or corresponding author, with one ESI Hot Paper and four ESI Highly Cited Papers. She received the National Outstanding Self-Supported International Student Scholarship, the MEXT full scholarship of the Japanese Government, and the Class A entry of Railway Major Scientific and Technological Achievements. She holds academic positions including Deputy Secretary-General of the International Affairs Secretariat of the China Rock Mechanics and Engineering Society and member of the Committee on Practical Application of Artificial Intelligence Technology.

Talent Development

Serving as a Master's Supervisor in Safety Science and Disaster Mitigation, she teaches graduate courses including Geological Hazards, Frontiers of Safety Science and Disaster Mitigation, Introduction to Comprehensive Disaster Science, and Disaster and Human Habitat, as well as undergraduate courses including Travelling with Geological Hazards, Geo-AI and Disaster Scenario Construction, and Safety Risk Theory and Emergency Skills Practice. She recruits Master's students with backgrounds in civil engineering, hydraulic engineering, mining engineering, geological engineering, safety engineering, mechanics, or computer science.
