Zhang Fan Associate Professor

Ph.D., Associate professor, "Double Hundred Talents Plan" of Sichuan University. She received her B.Mgt. in Engineering Management from Shandong University in 2013, M.Sc. in Construction Management from City University of Hong Kong in 2014, and Ph.D. in Management Science and Engineering from Southeast University in 2019, and was a joint Ph.D. candidate at the College of Design, Construction and Planning, University of Florida, USA. After graduation, she successively served as Research Associate, Postdoctoral Fellow, and Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Building and Real Estate at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and as Senior Lecturer at Oxford Brookes University, UK. Her main research interests include urban building resilience, building safety and health, emergency evacuation, and age-friendly built environment. To date, she has published 38 research outputs, including 12 papers in TOP journals, with a total citation over 700. She has led 4 research projects with total funding exceeding RMB 2.4 million, and has participated as a core member in 10 other research projects. She also serves as a member of the Architectural Society of China, a Youth Editorial Board Member of Urban Lifeline, a Guest Editor for SCI/SSCI journals, and a reviewer for TOP journals such as Habitat International, International Journal of Disaster Risk Reduction, Automation in Construction, and Advanced Engineering Informatics.

Teaching and supervision

She has served as the module leader for multiple undergraduate and postgraduate modules at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Oxford Brookes University, as well as a visiting lecturer at Southeast University, and has supervised several research assistants, Ph.D. students, and postdoctoral researchers at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She maintains close connections with worldwide universities including the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, City University of Hong Kong, the University of Hong Kong, University of New South Wales, University of Florida, University of Washington, the University of British Columbia, University College London, and Oxford Brookes University, and can provide students with high-quality opportunities for academic collaboration and exchange.
