From December 11 to 13, 2025, the 17th International Conference on Analysis of Discontinuous Deformation (ICADD-17), organized by the DDA Commission of the International Society for Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering (ISRM) and hosted by the University of Newcastle, Australia, was successfully held in Newcastle, Australia. Since the inaugural International Conference on Analysis of Discontinuous Deformation (ICADD-1) in 1995, the ICADD series has been successfully held 16 times, serving as a key platform for the dissemination and development of theoretical advances and engineering practices related to discontinuous numerical simulation methods.

The theme of ICADD-17 is “Numerical Simulations in Practical Engineering and Disaster Prevention”, bringing together scholars and engineers from around the world to discuss the latest developments in discontinuous methods from theory to practice. Associate Professor Peng Xinyan attended the conference and delivered invited presentation "Development of a coupled multi-phase SPH-DDA method and its applications in coupling problems in geotechnical hazards", which highlights our school's latest research achievements in the development and application of multiphase continuous–discontinuous coupled numerical analysis methods.

During the conference, she also participated in the study tours organized, fostering academic exchanges between our university and well-known international institutions such as the University of Newcastle and the University of Sydney, thereby enhancing the international influence and reputation of our related disciplines.
