Recently, on the invitation of the International Office and China Research Center of the University of Dhaka, Associate Professor Tian Bingwei, an Assistant to the dean and Head of the Department of Urban Safety, Health and Management of IDMR, travelled to Bangladesh to give academic lectures and also conduct various interviews. During his stay in Bangladesh, Professor Tian delivered two lectures on "China's Experience in Disaster Prevention, Mitigation and Relief" at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh Agricultural University, etc. The lectures were reported by China Media Group (CMG) and China Global Television Network - Bangladesh Department. With his rich professional knowledge and practical experience, Professor Tian presented China's successful cases and advanced technologies in disaster prevention and mitigation in a simple and understandable way. The lecture was fully recorded and publicly broadcast by CMG and widely viewed by the academic community and the public in Bangladesh.

After the lecture, at the invitation of CMG and RTV, Professor Tian received a joint interview on China's experience in disaster prevention and mitigation and technology empowering disaster prevention and mitigation, which was broadcast by RTV. No doubt, this in one way or another disseminated China's disaster prevention and mitigation concepts, and recovery and reconstruction technologies in Bangladesh, as well as helped the Bangladeshi people become aware and understand China's achievements in disaster prevention and mitigation.

IDMR has long been engaged in comprehensive disaster reduction research for the Belt and Road Initiative, and more importantly, in disseminating China's experience and knowledge in disaster prevention and mitigation, and on the other hand, post-disaster reconstruction. Prof. Tian’s visit not only enhanced exchanges and cooperation between China and Bangladesh in the field of disaster prevention and mitigation and resilience, but also made positive contributions towards promoting friendly relations between universities of the two countries.
